Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Navastha website and the Navastha app (for students and librarians) handle, why, and the choices you have. Navastha is still being built, so some features described here may not be available yet.
1. This website
- The website has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics tools and no tracking cookies.
- It saves your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device.
- It loads fonts from Google Fonts, so Google may receive technical details such as your IP address under Google's own privacy policy.
- It is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may keep standard server logs (for example IP address and time of visit).
- If you email us, use the contact form (which opens your own email app) or join the early-access list, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you or to tell you about the launch.
2. The Navastha app: information we handle
Information you give us
- Account: your email address and password, or your Google account details if you sign in with Google, or your phone number if you verify it with an SMS code (librarians verify their phone number once).
- Profile: your name, photo, bio, the exam you are preparing for and your privacy choices.
- Social: who you follow or are friends with, requests, blocks, and the messages and photos you send in chats.
- Libraries and bookings: libraries you save, your bookings (library, seat, shift, dates, plan, payment status and amount due), receipts, attendance check-ins when you scan a library's QR code, and reviews you write.
- Study activity: study time and activity statistics shown inside the app.
- Librarians: library details (name, address, map location, photos, seat layout), contact number and subscription plan details.
- Walk-in bookings: when a librarian adds a student without an app account, the student's name and phone number are held in that library's records.
Information from your device
- Camera and photos: to scan QR codes and to take or choose pictures you decide to use.
- Location: only when a librarian chooses to set the library's location during registration.
- Notifications: a device token so we can send you push notifications.
- Online status: your "online" or "last seen" status is shown to others only if your activity-status setting is on.
The app does not contain advertising or third-party analytics tools.
3. How we use information
- To create your account, sign you in and keep it secure.
- To show your profile to other people according to your privacy settings.
- To let students book seats and libraries manage seats, students, attendance and receipts.
- To deliver chats and notifications.
- To review new libraries before they appear publicly, handle reports, prevent abuse and fraud, and answer support requests.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Who can see your information
- Other people in the app: your public profile (name, photo and bio) and anything you choose to share, subject to your privacy settings. Private accounts limit what non-followers see.
- Libraries: a library can see the bookings, attendance and payment status that belong to that library.
- People you chat with: they see the messages and photos you send them.
- Navastha: we can access data needed to run the service, review libraries and handle reports.
5. Service providers
We use these providers to run the app. They process data for us under their own terms:
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud: sign-in (Firebase Authentication, Google Sign-In, SMS verification), the app database, photo and file storage, push notifications, and hosting of our server.
- A managed PostgreSQL database service: librarian subscription records and walk-in booking records.
6. Google user data
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We use them only to create your account and sign you in. We do not sell them or use them for advertising. Navastha's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
7. How long we keep information, and deleting it
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account from inside the app or by emailing us. The delete account page lists the steps, what is removed and what may remain (for example booking and attendance records a library needs for its own books, and messages you already sent to other people).
8. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections and is protected by access rules so people can only read what they are allowed to. No online service can promise perfect security.
9. Children
Navastha is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
10. Your choices
You can edit your profile and privacy settings in the app, turn off notifications in your phone settings, and delete your account. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your information, a correction, or deletion.
11. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will update the date above, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app or by email.
